Our Story

A frustrated wine lover who just wants a nice glass of wine with dinner or at a sports arena or by the pool and doesn’t want to worry about how long the bottle has been open or to hear “no glass allowed”!

I have been in the wine business for 30 years, and for those who knew me as the Sommelier in a tuxedo with the silver ashtray (tastevin) around my neck working at a luxury 5-Star resort, this might be a surprise to hear me touting the benefits of box wine. Over the years I have opened numerous wine bars and restaurants and worked at many wineries in Napa, Sonoma and Amador. I have dumped a depressing amount of wine down the drain from being opened and not consumed in a timely fashion.

The last winery I worked with makes the house wine for a great pizza place in 5-liter bags and I thought, why can’t we offer something like that to our customers in the tasting room? I found the perfect 3-liter wine dispenser which gave me the courage to offer it in the tasting room and to local restaurants. The response was amazing, they all said, “I want more choices…I want whites and roses and I want a lot more choices in reds!”. So, I present Boxx Cellars!
